Your BBB of San Diego invites you to partner with us for our 4th BBB "Secure Your ID Day." This FREE identity protection event will take place on Saturday, October 17th and is an excellent opportunity for your company to take an active and tangible role in a community service initiative that directly benefits our community and marketplace.
What is BBB Secure Your ID Day?
Secure Your ID Day provides free, on-the-spot document shredding and prescriptive advice for protecting your identity from ID thieves. Consumers and businesses can bring up to three boxes or bags of documents to be shredded and at the same time, pick up valuable information about identity theft and fraud. Everything is done from their car so it is fast and easy!
BBB of San Diego is part of an expansive network of local BBB’s across North America collaborating to produce this event, which will be promoted using both national and local media, marketing and advertising tools. Our last Secure Your ID Day event was mentioned on local news programs and many local publications!
Opportunity
Last year alone, 8.1 million Americans became victims of ID theft, resulting in the loss of $45 billion, according to a 2008 report from Javelin Strategy and Research. The report notes that the majority of ID theft occurs when the thief had direct contact with the victim’s personal information, through a stolen or lost wallet or through a personal mailbox or trashcan. This is a chance to partner your business with your BBB and the National Association for Information Destruction by delivering practical identity protection tips and resources to the local community in the framework of a community service document shredding event.
