Keep counting those pills

Have you actually ever counted those little pills in the bottle you get from the pharmacy? It might be time to start counting. You might be thinking “Who does that?” But I just talked to someone who did, and found that they were getting shorted on their pain medication. Nancy (yes, a fake name) just had surgery and thus is not a “regular” pain medication user. I guess if you were on a medication consistently, you would notice if your pills ran out too early.

Ignoring problems doesn’t make the problem go away, it makes the consumer go away

Here are some things my friends DON’T say: “I think I’m getting too thin.” “I’m not sure the guy charged me enough for that repair.” “I can’t wait to go see my in-laws this weekend.” So you can imagine my joy this past weekend, finding myself at a fancy restaurant with the in-laws and it took them, no joke, two-and-a-half hours to serve our meal. You are assuming, I know, that the place was hopping busy. It wasn’t. It was in Oregon, so I thought perhaps expectations were different there. My mother-in-law assured me they are not, she was likewise extremely disappointed.

Falling off a Pedestal

I remember the first time that falling off a pedestal really hurt. My then 12-year-old daughter’s girlfriend had choked on a pen cap. I was telling my beautiful girl that her beautiful friend was about to be pulled off life-support, and I explained what that meant. We had been to the hospital for a visit, so she had a concept of what was going on. Her immediate reaction to me was “Call the doctors, Mom! Tell them what to do! You’re smart! You can tell them how to save her!” Ouch. Falling off that pedestal really hurt.
