Celebrating 100 years of Ethics and Eagles: Golfers Swing for Charity at the 16^th Annual Gerry Wilson Golf Classic

As the sun rose over the beautiful La Costa Resort and Spa, eager golfers made their way onto the carts and off to the course for the shotgun start. BBB Staff and golfers alike were all set for a day of sun, fun and holes in one for the 16th Annual Gerry Wilson Golf Classic.

Check-in began at 10 a.m. with plenty of time to warm up on the putting green and driving range. Players enjoyed a delicious steak sandwich for lunch provided by our generous lunch sponsors Sycuan Casino before starting the tournament.

This year’s Gerry Wilson Golf Classic hosted just over 100 golfers for a day of golf, games, dinner and a silent auction. Golfers traveled the course through the heat of the day, and were greeted at each hole by a new sponsor who treated golfers to games, BBB trivia or drinks. Keeping with tradition, we hosted our 8^th Annual Wacky Slacks contest as a tribute to our former fun-loving CEO Gerry Wilson who was known for wearing outrages trousers on the greens. The ladies from the Sycuan Casino, who were awarded “Best Overall Theme/Wackiest Outfit,” were all “decked out” sporting some very wacky slacks that donned decks of playing cards.

Other memorable sponsors were Eagle Graphics, Coastal Payroll Services and Health Saving Associates Insurance Services. Health Saving Associates encouraged golfers to take a break from their day and participate in some fun activities like a photo op with an oversized inflatable bottle of beer! See the pictures now!

After the last ball was sunk, the golfers gathered for the BBB’s silent auction where they bid on items generously donated by members of the San Diego Community. The golfers attempted to score great pieces like a four-pack of tickets to a Padres game, a round of golf for four and even an Apple Ipad, before they joined BBB President/CEO Sheryl Bilbrey for a sit-down dinner and awards ceremony.

When all was said and done, the BBB staff and golfers celebrated another successful Golf Classic. The BBB would like to thank all who participated in the 16^th year of the Gerry Wilson Golf Classic and the BBB’s gracious sponsors.
