My Cornhuskers are coming to the Holiday Bowl.  I call them MY Cornhuskers because I spent the first 30+ years of my life in Nebraska and got my bachelors and MBA from the University of Nebraska.  I even played in the marching band at the Orange Bowl, Sugar Bowl and Fiesta Bowl.  To answer your next question: the trombone.

Thus, I MUST have tickets to the Holiday Bowl.  As my parents are season ticket holders, I asked them to “put in” for bowl tickets if the Huskers came to San Diego (I actually travel to Nebraska to games twice a year.)  They did, but we had not yet heard whether our request was secured.  What I did learn in the meantime, however, was that the Holiday Bowl sold out.  Well crap.  I know a lot of people on the Holiday Bowl committee, so maybe I could find someone with extra tickets to sell me, but NO WAY am I not going to a Nebraska game in my own back yard.

So you know what that means?  It’s not a matter of IF I’m going to get tickets, it’s just a matter of how I’m going to get them and how much I’m going to pay for them.  NOW I’m getting nervous.  You know why?  Because every year at this time we start getting the phone calls at the BBB from people like you who are just like me.  There’s a game you just HAVE to see, and it’s just a matter of money to get your hands on some of those sold out tickets.  So who do you deal with?  Often times, someone on the internet that, for some reason, you decide to trust with your money when you don’t know them from Adam.  Why?  Well, because you have to have those tickets, of course.

In most cases, the tickets are legit and the fans are happy.  But sadly, in many cases, the tickets are a fraud.  The “taker” gets your money and never sends the tickets.  Or they send you counterfeit tickets.  In any case, you are out the money and the “taker” has disappeared.

If you want to enjoy that all-important event, and are willing to spend your hard-earned money to get those seats, please avoid the flushing noise caused by unsuspecting trusting buyers when they deal with a con man (that sound is your money going down the drain.)  Use a trustworthy source, like the original seller or an accredited ticket broker, to get your hands on the goods.  Will you pay a little more?  Probably not in the long run.  Enjoy the game!
