2010 BBB Torch Awards - Info & Recipients

The 2010 BBB Torch Awards presentation luncheon was held at the Town and Country Resort Hotel and Convention Center on Tuesday, December 7.

A keynote address was delivered by College Football Hall of Fame coach John Robinson, the former head coach of the Los Angeles Rams, University of Southern California and University of Nevada at Las Vegas. George Chamberlin, executive editor of the San Diego Daily Transcript newspaper and business editor and host of the “Money in the Morning” radio show with KOGO-AM 600 and money advisor for KNSD-TV/Channel NBC 7/39, served as emcee at the event for his 13th consecutive year. Sempra Energy was the presenting sponsor of the 2010 Torch Awards for Marketplace Ethics.

Nineteen San Diego County businesses were recently honored for ethical business practices by your San Diego Better Business Bureau. Six for profit companies and one non profit organization were honored as top winners of a 2010 BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics, while 12 others were named as finalists.

Companies and organizations were not the only award recipients at the recent Torch Awards for Marketplace Ethics luncheon. Five high school students who wrote essays on the importance of ethics and integrity in the community were presented with cash scholarships. A total of 238 essays from students attending 74 different high schools in San Diego County were evaluated by the judges.
